Saturday at Hillside Park in Warterloo, at the Elmira Cubs ClassicTournament

It is only the first ever Cubs Tournament in Waterloo's Hillside Park,so it is a bit early to describe it as a Classic, but there were acouple classic moments here today, including a three pitchers throwing2 no hitters and a good junior team losing a close one to a good seniorteam...and a good senior team looking at 4 and 0 against some prettygood opposition

Game 9 Elmira Juniors 5 Kitchener Outlaws 4 start  1:03 end 2:45  Gamedelayed half an hour with one away in the first, lightning, and heavyrain.  Fields dried quickly and the 1pm games got underway on both theUpper and Lower diamonds.  A good dust settling rain, but it did pourfor ten minutes proving the high fields at Hillside can take the rainand clean up quickly.

For the Juniors Ben Wideman had 4 RBIs, Dan Martin went 8 inningsallowing only 1 run til the 7th when the Cubs struck for 4,  three fromthe Kevin Gutcher's HR, Shawn Detzler tied the game with a solo HR.
The game went to the ITBreaker, the JRs  scored with Ben Wideman'sRBI.  The Cubs followed with an RBI
single  from Graham Beachler,  who scored three batters later on apassed ball, winning the game.

MVP Kevin Gutscher with the 3 run RBI to bring the Cubs close in the7th.

Today, the Juniors almost beat the Srs, there were two no hittersthrown, the Bridgeport Braves are looking good at 4 - 0, the KitchenerOutlaws looking good at 2 - 1, and two Junior teams Elmira andScarborough promise to make the playdowns here and next week in theCanadian Championships  in Owen Sound interesting.
