First Ontario Jarvis Gamblers - Update

April 30, 2009

Jarvis, ON

Jarvis, Ontario

The First Ontario Jarvis Gamblers would like to introduce our finalized roster for the 2009 season.  Returning to the team and leading the pitching staff is the duo of Paul Koert and Andrew Phibbs.  Koert returns after a solid 2008 season which seen him named a 2nd Team All-World selection at the ISC WT and named to the USA Mens team that will compete at the ISF's in Saskatoon.  Phibbs returns after a strong '08 season in which he got better as the season progressed and was named an All-star selection at the 2008 Sr Canadian Championships.  Rounding out the staff will be the addition of Tim Macumber.  Tim brings a powerful bat and will help eat up innings to keep Koert and Phibbs fresh for the late season.

Other additions to roster are Canadian National team members Ian Fehrman and Jeff Ellsworth.  Due to prior commitments, Ellsworth will not be able to attend the ISC WT but will be with the Gamblers for all other tournaments plus the Sr. Canadians in St Thomas.  Also joining the team are Brandon Horn and Jamie Baker from the Scarborough Wolverines.  OF Jason Hill and P/DP Rob O'Brien will join Jarvis for the Sr Canadians in St Thomas.

The First Ontario Jarvis Gamblers are pleased to have Pat Graham return for the 2009 season.  Graham is the teams Captain and led the team in both batting average and HR's in 2008.  Joining Graham will be Chad Staats, Bill Simmons, Greg Courneyea, Ryan Thompson, Dave Fowler, Allan Phibbs, Will Fehrman and Matt Lyon.  Staats returns full time after a work-shortened 2008 season.  Courneyea and Phibbs will be handling the catching duties while Simmons returns to the OF and will looking to improve on his team leading 31 SB's in 2008.

First Ontario will open the season with a double headers on May 23, 30 and 31 as they prepare for their first tournament of the year in Kitchener on June 5th (Legends of Fastball).  In addition to the ISC Travel League, the Gamblers will be in the Midland tournament, ISC Qualifier in Jarvis, Monkton's World Series of Fastball and Provincial championships prior to heading to Quad City for the ISC WT.

In addition, the First Ontario Jarvis Gamblers will be playing host to the Canadian Mens National team on June 19th as they prepare for the 2009 ISF World Tournament in Saskatoon.

The teams website has been updated with the teams schedule and roster and will continue to be updated with player photos and stats as the season progresses.  www.sport.ca/firstontariojarvisgamblers
