SCHEDULE IN PDF

The opening wins in the 2009 Intermediate Tournament went to two local
fastball clubs.

In game one at Hillside Park, Bridgeport Braves out hit and out pitched
the visiting Ingersoll Crush. Mark VanVliet went the full 7 innings for
the Bridgeport win. allowing 1 run on 4 hits and struck out 7 Crush
batters. For Ingersoll, Adam Martin went 4 2/3 for the loss, allowing 4
runs on 7 hits. Todd Winkworth closed allowing 1 run on a hit.

Jamie Boyd stretched a good double into a triple and scored in the
second inning. Ross Herold drove in 2 runs in the 3rd. Jay Schnarr had
3 hits, one a triple

The Crush scored their run, a homer by Rick Johnson in the 6th.

On the upper diamond, the Elmira Expos rode Dan Martin's pitching and
hitting to a win over the Shakespeare Falcons 7 to 2. Martin threw all
7 innings allowing 2 runs of 5 hits and striking out 7 Falcons. Martin
contributed to his win with a double and a single leading the young
Expos to the opening win in this years provincial championship
tournament. Kasey Halstead added a homer. The Expos Kevin Gutscher,
took advantage of a Shakespeare defensive hesitation and scored from
second on a single by Kris Wright. In the 5th, Kyle Coles agressively
took advantage of an error and scored from second

Play continues all day on Saturday, with both intermediate and senior
games at Hillside Park in Waterloo. There are some very interesting
matchups. The Georgian Bay Axemen look strong, and of course the
Kitchener Riversharks and the Jarvis Gamblers will bring lots of power
to the park.

Championship day is Sunday.

OASA Provincial Championships Hillside Park Waterloo

Clear blue skies, warm summer evening, the New Dundee Optimist
Club/Village Caterer and the Brick Beer tent were very busy and on the
twin diamonds, Wellington Sox and the Kitchener Outlaws continued the
pattern of the local team beating up on the visitors.

On the upper diamond Andy Jackson of the Georgian Bay Axemen and
Kitchener Outlaw Mel Ross locked up on what everyone thought was going
to be a 2 to 1 pitchers battle, but it turned into a slugfest, ending
with a walk off two run home run by the Outlaws 3rd baseman Ryan Shannon
in the bottom of the 7th.

Kitchener jumped out with a five run first inning. Geogian Bay Axemen
responded with 4 in the 3rd and took the lead in the top of the 5th.
The Outlaws responded to tie the game at 7 in the bottom of the 5th and
closed the book with Shannon's homer.

The Axemen were swinging for the fence as well, Chris Mink and Tony Lisk
both had homers for the Georgian Bay squad.

Game 3

The Cobourg Force were leading 5 to 3 in the 7th but the Wellington Sox
scored 3 in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch that scored the
winning run.

The first three batters scored for Cobourg in the top of the first, two
more in the 2nd inning and Ron Gilbert, Sox skipper was looking at a 5
run lead to overcome. He got 3 back in the bottom of the second. The
first two batters in the Sox 7th struck out. Then a double, a 2 run rbi
homer by Aaron Small, Tevor Seip on with a Hit by Pitch, single by Mike
Pinder and a walk by Todd Uhrig and the bases are loaded. Cobourg pulls
their starter Wayne Wells and in comes Kyle Linton to face Ryan Fisk.

OASA Intermediate Championships Hillside Park Waterloo 

Three days of sunshine in Waterloo, a threat of rain that passed by 8am Saturday,  and the fastball fans at Hillside in Waterloo were in forsome great games in the Intermediate division of the OASA Provincialchampionships.

The Waterdown Hammer went thru the tournament undefeated,  with winsover the Bridgeport Braves, Wellington Sox, Kitchener Outlaws, and inthe provincial championship game the Elmira Erb Electric Expos.

Elmira had wins over the KW Cubs, Kitchener Outlaws, Ingersoll Crush,Wellington Sox, before losing to the Hammer.

The following games were on Saturday.

Waterdown wins the OASA Intermediate Championships

Great weekend at Hillside, The KW Cubs worked very hard in presenting avery well run Ontario Championship
The Cubs and the OASA put together a great team and provided the ballclubs  with plenty of sunshine, cold Brick draft Red Baron and WaterlooDark and Bob Thomson and his staff at the  Village Caterer Food had thefans and players raving about the beef bar b cue.

OASA Senior Recap from Hillside Park Waterloo Ont  

Kitchener Hallman Rivershark Twins win OASA Senior championship at
Waterloo's Hillside Park.

With wins of 1 - 0 in pool play and 5 - 3 in championship round play
the Rivershark Twins defeated the First Ontario Jarvis Gamblers to win
the Ontario OASA Senior Championships this weekend in Waterloo.

In the pool game played Saturday evening, the R-Twins scored on a Jody
Eidt single for the lone RBI of the game in the 5th. Blair Ezekiel got
the win, and Don Scott the save. Paul Koert went the distance for the
Gamblers.

Prior to the game, Gary Waugh, OASA Vice Presdent presented the players
who played at the International Softball Federation World Championship
in Saskatoon with OASA pins. Seven Rivershark Twins were on the Team
Canada roster; five were on the OASA roster this weekend; Craig
Crawford, Jody Eidt, Dale Levy, Todd Martin, and Ryan Wolfe. The Jarvis
Gamblers had 3 roster players in Waterloo this weekend who played in the
ISF tournament. Iam Fehrman the great Jarvis shortstop was on the Team
Canada roster while Paul Koert and Brendon Horn, a Waterloo Twins minor
graduate, were with Team USA and Team Great Britain respectively.

The Rivershark Twins made it to the championship final with an 11 - 6
win oer Owen Sound Selects early Saturday afternoon.

Jarvis defeated St Thomas in the opening game 7 - 4 and Owen Sound 6 - 2.

Owen Sound defeated St Thomas 5 - 4 in the other pool play matchup.

In the championship final Jarvis opened the scoring with 2 in the third
and 1 run in the fourth. Kitchener tied the game in the bottom of the
3rd. Dale Levy, with a runner on base hit a 2 run homer in the bottom
of the 7th for the win. Blair Ezekial had a couple of singles for the R
Twins, and third baseman Derek Shackleton had a 2 rbi double in the 4th
to tie the game.

With the win, Kitchener travels to St Thomas as the Ontario Champion to
compete in the Canadian fastball championships Sept 30 th Aug 6th.
