RE: 2011 NAFA MenÂ’s Fast Pitch Tournament in Omaha

After talking to most of you this week, you all know that your response to our tournament in Omaha has been absolutely terrific. A total of 16 teams from five states have responded.

It is the largest menÂ’s fast pitch event in Omaha in at least 15 years – I know because I organized and played in the last one!

So now the details:

1.    Two 8-team divisions. Using NAFA terminology, AA and A.
2.    The divisions were assigned to their respective divisions after much discussion with NAFA vice president Mike Watson in Topeka and the Nebraska State Director Matt Christensen here in Omaha.
3.    The specially designed brackets show the three-game guarantee format we originally planned. However, the championship game in each division will be a one game playoff. There will be no “if” game on Sunday so  we can finish the tournament at a reasonable time on and get everyone back on the road home.
4.     Unless there are some unforeseen budget surprises we didnÂ’t anticipate, the payout in BOTH divisions will be as follows:

Championship -- $275
Runner up -- $150
3rd place -- $100

5.     The divisions are

AA
Omaha Fast Pitch
Crow Bar – Sioux Falls
Winterset (IA) AÂ’s
Colorado Rage
Oscars-Don Peterson – Omaha
Palazzo’s Java Shop – Des Moines
Iowa Cocks
Topeka Toros

A Division

Dixon Mowers-Omaha
Wizards of OZ – Eldorado KS
Bills’ Bar – Leigh NE
NW Implement – Marville, MO
Smitty’s Auto – Omaha/Blair
KC Angels – Kansas City
Plymouth (NE) Fast Pitch
Mac’s Sports Bar – Kansas City KS

6.     A specific tournament rules page is attached with this correspondence. We added a few “twists” like a time limit and a “casual profanity” rule. Our desire is to keep the tournament on schedule and, quite simply, hold your teams to a higher standard of decorum that is expected in a NAFA event. We are confident that you will find these specific items are NOT unreasonable.

So Â… the brackets for both divisions are attached for your reference. The tournament rules are attached as well. And so is a flyer from our host hotel. The tournament rules flyer has the directions to the park.

We look forward to seeing you all!
