KEATING’S WIN 4th OF JULY TOURNAMENT
Keating’s Fitness Center, from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, went 4-0 on their way to capturing the championship of the 6th annual Rick Holley Classic in Fort Washington, Maryland over the 4th of July weekend. The Chapel Hill Warriors from North Carolina came in 2nd place and Positive Brothers team from Maryland finished 3rd.
Keating’s opened the tournament with a 4-3 come from behind win over the Chapel Hill Warriors. Dave Stokes came on in relief of starter Joe Hineline to pick up the win. Stokes pitched 3 scoreless 1 hit innings striking out 6 in the process. Justin Stock led the offense with a 3 for 3 effort.
Next for Keating’s was the Speedboys from the District of Columbia. Dave Stokes threw a 4-0 complete game shutout allowing 4 hits and striking out 10. Andy Lawrence went 2 for 2 with 3 RBI’s.
In the winner bracket final game on Sunday morning Keating’s beat Positive Brothers 8-0. Joe Hineline threw a perfect game with 7 strike outs. Justin Stock was 2 for 2 while scoring 2 runs.
In the championship game Keating’s again defeated the Chapel Hill Warriors 12-0. Dave Stokes also threw a perfect game striking out 8. Andy Lawrence was 2 for 2 with a triple and scored 3 runs.
The 8 team tournament was played in 95 degree sunny weather.
