Rosters and Schedule for the Great Lakes in New Dundee this weekend

The KW Cubs and Brad Thomson, tournament chair of this year Great Lakes
OASA Championships invites all fastpitch fans to his hometown this
weekend for the OASA Great Lakes Championship and the Senior OASA
Elimination

Seven teams are in the intermediate bracket, and three in the senior
elimination.

Defending OASA champs, the Cobourg Force, three South Perth League
teams, the host club KW Cubs, will be joined by the Wellington Sox,
currently first in league play, and the Kitchener Outlaws at Doug
Fischer Park in New Dundee.

Harwood Corners, of the TriCounty League, Palermo/ Hammer, out of the
Golden Horseshoe League, and the Toronto Gators make up the 7 team
bracket

The host Cubs are a stong team, with a good record this year in
tournament play. They beat the vistiting New Zealand Black Sox 5 - 0 in
late June, went undefeated in the ISC qualifier in Springfield On, in
mid June, Scott Wagar throwing a no hitter. The Cubs were leading the
reigning ISC World Champs, Jarvis Tarvellers 1 - 0 into the 7th inning
of the recent Tavistock tournament only to lose on a two run walk off
home run by Nick Shailes.

The Wellinton Sox out of Harriston are leading the South Perth league
with a 13 - 2 record. The Kitchener Outlaws are tied with the Cubs at 7
- 6, five games behind the Sox in the South Perth standings.

In senior play, the Owen Sound Selects will be joined by the Port
Elgin Blue Devils and the Hallman Twins.

The Twins, CASA defending champs are putting together a roster for the
Great Lakes in order to qualify for the nationals with the goal of
winning their 3rd CASA title in 3 years. The Twins will be playing
with a short bench as several members of last years Twins were comitted
to playing for other teams in the Erie Pennsylvania tournament also
being held this weekend.

There is no admission charge this weekend. Minor ball players from New
Dundee will be collecting funds for the OASA Scholarship fund.

The New Dundee community is hosting this championship at Doug Fischer
Park. Ball fans will be entertained with some great ball this weekend,
and also enjoy the great food provided by Bob Thomson of the Village
Caterer. Bob`s famous beef on a bun bar b cue will be served in
the beer tent immediately behind the New Dundee Community Centre
located at 1026 Queen St. near Bridge St.

New Dundee is located west of Kitchener Waterloo.
