ISC World Tournament Wrap Up by Gary Baughman

August 18, 2015

South Bend, IN

Well another World Tournament has come and gone. Many thought cross my mind and not being smarter than a post I will try to put them into words many things to say. First of all being inducted into he International Softball Congress Hall of Fame was was a great experience. Having my son to present me was a great honor in its self.To Be in the Hall with all of the incredibly talented players, great administrators that have helped the ISC grow and great umpires that keep the peace on the field is such an Honor.

I must say right off that I was blessed to have Jim Byers the head grounds keeper at the Ball park there to help me out. Let me use a golf cart. Came out to get me in the morning and out to the great trailer the Hosts provided for me. Air conditioned wow. Never had that before. Although it died Friday it was great while it lasted. Jim was so very good to me a truly great human being. Thank You so much Jim. I would love to back to South Bend again.

Next Jessica and Roseanne Allan. What can I say the worked tirelessly keeping the score keepers straight trying to get the best stats possible. Score keepers were a little rough the first few games but quickly came around under Jessica's and Roseanne's Tutelage. Many hours WORKED did me a outstanding job. Thanks for your hard work ladies.

Now not all scorer errors were caught and fixed. So I am about with in a day or two beginning my audit of both the WT and the Legends. If any team or person has seen problems feel free to email me and I will look into he issues. Takes time to go through each game. I was not allowed hard copy so I put each game into my scoring program so I have way to check each game and make corrections. After the work Jessica and Roseanne put in I do not expect to find very many major errors.

The folks at the Host hotel were also very helpful to me.
Now not walking real well I needed help getting to and from room. I was blessed with the help of an another outstanding human being as well as an excellent umpire in Lou Davis. His help was absolutely necessary a few nights. Though toward the end I was walking better and was able to get in myself. Thank You so very much Lou.

A lot of very good games many extra inning games I enjoyed again he opportunity to watch the reason I do what I do the best players in the world play the game I love. I love watching the younger player get the experience and advance in the game and get better. Fun to watch.

Thanks to the two guys that did the All-World teams. Extremely difficult job. A lot of guys certainly could have been all world as well as those who made it.

Again I will say "AL I missed you being there"

Already looking forward to next year in Moline. Great park and great hosts.
I love this game all the long hours at the park no where else I would want to be and I will be ready for the next one.
