Jack Green Memorial Senior Men's Fastball Tournament 

 

Pickering team at this year's Callander Fastball tourny Labour Day weekend. Played 6 games in brutal heat and humidity and lost in the "A" final. Great group of guys and I had a lot of fun.

Just wanted to give a big shout out to Dwight Beer for hosting and running the 3rd annual Callander Fastball Tournament this past Labour Day weekend. Dwight picked up the ball when the annual tournament, held in North Bay for about 30 years, folded 3 years ago. The amount of work he has put into the Callander event is phenomenal, and very appreciated by all the players who have played in it. Fastball has been fighting for it's life the last couple of decades and the game needs more guys like Dwight to ensure not only it's survival.....but growth. This year's tourny had 18 teams. And Dwight is already talking about possible expansion for next year. Great job buddy from myself and the Pickering team. Tip of the cap.

 "A" champions was Shakespeare 7-1 over Pickering. Winning pitcher was Tim Yantzi and losing pitcher was Steve McGillis. And the "AA" champions was Sudbury Relics 1-0 over Dieppe T-Hawks. Winning pitcher was Ward Gosse and losing pitcher was Tom Berube.
