Saturday September 26th will be a blast to the past when the “Legends Of Fastball†Masters Exhibition Match will take to the stage at theswitchMONEYBALL Fastpitch Softball Tournament hosted at the Ipswich Softball Association September 25-27.

Organiser of the exhibition match Mr Murray Rivers has brought together some of the greats of the game to show the young bucks just how its done.

“These players hail from an era where the ball was hard, and so were the men!†Mr Rivers states.
Â
“We didn't have have these fancy bats with pretty paint-jobs, or black band-aids on our faces!â€
Â
“We didn't even have helmets!†Mr Rivers reflected.
Â
The “Legends Of Fastball†Masters Exhibition Match provides an opportunity to showcase players and officials from a golden era of men's fastpitch playing for either “Team Vintage†or “Team Retroâ€.
Â
There will be a swag full of former representatives from Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain on display. Importantly there will also be some legends that made their mark more on the local scene!

The contest will be played in the spirit of the game with a focus on entertainment. Team members have been asked to play in their oldest playing uniform (that fits!) to harness that retro feel.
Â
There will also be a number of innovative components to keep the excitement to the maximum. Each team will have a “Mystery Player†that will be able to be called upon by the coach to have one at bat during the game. But who will these players be??? All will be revealed on the afternoon!

Additionally we would like to announce that there will be current Aussie Steelers players taking to the field to show us their umpiring prowess round the bases!

The “Legends Of Fastball†Masters Exhibition Match will be on Saturday 26th September at the prime time slot of 4:00pm, to be followed by the highly anticipated Home-Run Contest where players will be competing for a cool $1000 in prize value.

Saturday's entertainment will be complete with the feature game of the round between Redlands based Scorpions and Canberra's Namadgi Dragons at 6:00pm where the number one pitcher in the world Adam Folkard may well be hurling it from the middle.

There will also be four teams on the Saturday and the Sunday competing in the “Local Legends†Masters competition where the Ipswich based Tigers and Warriors will be going against the Brisbane Bluesox and Barstools in what promises to be an entertaining display of skill and efficiency!
