The ball was soaring off the Golden Hawk’s bats Wednesday night in the Battle of Waterloo against the Warriors. Bobbi Sue Hentges had a lead-off single in the top of the first followed by a sacrifice bunt from Marissa Woodburn. After a walk to Alana Hentges, Rachel Warmington had a fielder’s choice to open the 1-0 lead for the Hawks. Warmington had her second RBI in the third inning to score Woodburn and was later scored off a single from Amy Campagnolo. Nicole Gagnier was hot at the dish for the Golden Hawks going 3-4 with an RBI, leading off with a single in the sixth and later scored with a bunt single from Bobbi Sue Hentges. The Laurier offense then put the game away in the 7th inning, scoring four runs for the 8-1 win. Warmington threw seven strong innings for the win.

The bats stayed hot in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Alana Hentges went 3-3 with an RBI starting off with a double in the first inning to score Amelia Ballak who reached on an error. Ellen Westlaken then belted a double to centrefield to score two of her four RBIs. Five more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two run home run from Westlaken who fell just a triple short of the cycle and with only three at bats in the game. The Hawks were able to end the game early by scoring eight more runs in the third inning and ended the game with a 15-0, three run mercy-game. Marissa Woodburn was 2-3 with 4 RBIs and Campagnolo went 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Campagnolo also threw a shortened 3 inning perfect game, her second no-hitter of the year and extended her consecutive scoreless innings to 17.

Up next for the Hawks is a rematch of last year’s Provincial Championship against the Western Mustangs at Hillside Park, 7 and 9 pm followed by a double header with the York Lions Saturday at 2 and 4 pm again at Hillside Park and the Queens Gaels Sunday in Ponsonby at 11 and 1.
