Softball Canada Supports Athlete Sanction

(Ottawa, ON) Softball player Brian Banner, of Sooke, British Columbia, has been given a four year period of ineligibility as a result of a doping infraction.

The positive sample was collected out of competition at a Men’s National Team Athlete Pool camp held in Mississauga, Ontario on April 26. A copy of the CCES media release on the matter can be found here.

The test was conducted while Mr. Banner was a member of the Men’s National Team Athlete Pool. Mr. Banner has never been selected to a Softball Canada National Team.

Softball Canada President Kevin Quinn clearly stated Softball Canada’s support of CCES’ anti-doping initiatives and the need for a fair and level playing field.
