OSHAWA, Ont. - Sarah Bondy will remember her single to left field at Durham College Field for awhile.

The St. Clair infielder hit her walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring Sydney MacPherson home from second, giving the Saints their first CCSA national championship title.

St. Clair won the game 2-1 over the Western Mustangs who came into the tournament having won the last four national titles. The Saints won silver in 2014 and bronze in 2013.

Allison Telfer picked up the win for the Saints in the low-scoring affair. She pitched seven innings, allowing no earned runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out one.

Rachel Jacques, who was named the tournament's top pitcher, took the loss for the Mustangs. She went 6.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and one walk. Jacques struck out four batters in the championship game.

At the plate Courtney Reynolds and Melanie Smith led Western, each going 2-for-3.

For St. Clair, Bondy was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Telfer was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Saints made it to the final by finishing 2-1 in pool play before defeating Regina 3-2 in the quarter-final to advance to the semifinal against Saskatchewan. They defeated the Cougars 10-7 to matchup against Western in the final.

Western finished first in Pool A with a 3-0 record, giving them a bye to the semifinal on Sunday morning. The Mustangs took on the Laurier Golden Hawks, defeating their conference rivals 3-1.

As hosts, the Durham Lords were 0-3 in their pool, which included Western, St. Clair and the University of Calgary. The Lords played their final game of the championship on Saturday against Conestoga for seventh in the country. Durham defeated their OCAA rivals 7-0.

Durham College is now back in action on Wednesday night as their OCAA regular season continues with a trip to Hamilton to face the Mohawk Mountaineers. The Lords also host the OCAA softball championship at Durham Field from Oct. 23-24. The top four teams in the province will be in Oshawa for the event, with a trip to the 2016 CCSA national championship being up for grabs.
