Durham College ready to host softball provincials

OSHAWA, Ont. - The top four softball teams in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) will be in Oshawa this weekend as Durham College is set to host the 2015 OCAA Softball Championship from Oct. 23-24.

Coming off the heels of hosting a successful national championship, Durham will now welcome the top collegiate teams in Ontario. Joining Durham in the field are the Fanshawe Falcons (London, Ont.), Humber Hawks (Etobicoke, Ont.) and the CCSA national champion St. Clair Saints (Windsor, Ont.).

"We are very excited to host such a great event that features the top softball teams from across Ontario," said Durham College athletic director Ken Babcock. "With the provincial title up for grabs, teams will be leaving it all on the field making for some exciting softball action over the two days."

The two-day double knockout championship will highlight the top four teams in the OCAA battling it out for the provincial title. The event will kick-off on Friday morning with the OCAA Championship awards banquet, taking place at the Quality Hotel in Oshawa at 8:30 a.m.

Action on the diamond will begin that morning at noon, as the Lords (15-7) take on the first place St. Clair Saints (19-5). The Saints enter the championship as the defending champions.
