Alvinston, ON - Alvinston Indians win at home Thursday evening

The Alvinston Indians returned home on Thursday evening, for their third game of the season in South Middlesex Men's Fastball league action, against the visiting Highgate Rock. The Indians sent pitcher Jeff Wise to the mound, while the Rock countered with Todd Beecroft.

The first two innings were three up three down for both teams. In the bottom of the third inning however, the Indians struck first, when Kyle McEachern doubled to lead off the inning. McEachern advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then scored on an RBI single by Andy Triest.

In the fourth inning, the Indians added two more runs, thanks to back-to-back doubles by Kole Keating and Jeff Wise, which pushed Keating across home plate. Then with one out, Wise advanced to third via a pass ball, and Kyle McEachern hit a sacrifice fly to left, to plate Wise for the game's third run.

In the top of the fifth, Highgate made it 3-1, when Darren Clark changed the score, by smashing a home run over the right field fence. However, that was all Highgate could muster on this night, as Jeff Wise threw 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 12 strikeouts, to earn the win. Wise also clubbed a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the sixth inning, making the final score 4-1.

The Alvinston Indians are now 3-0, and they play next Thursday and Friday on the road against Oneida and Charing Cross
