The Junior Men’s Team is preparing for the 2016 WBSC Junior Men’s World Softball Championship from July 24 to 30 in Midland, Michigan. Their final roster was determined in June following a Selection Camp that was held in Kitchener, ON.

The Canadian Junior Men’s National Team will be assembling in Kitchener on July 13th and will compete in the Cephas Roth Memorial Senior Men’s Tournament July 14-17 in Tavistock, ON, and then play a series of exhibition games before heading to Midland for the World Championship.

Team Canada finished seventh at the previous Junior Men’s World Championship held in Whitehorse in 2014. Argentina won the Gold medal, with New Zealand taking Silver and Japan earning Bronze.

“The coaching staff has been working hard with our athletes since the identification camps last year” stated Mike Branchaud, Manager of the Canadian Program. “We have noticed great improvements in the fitness level, pitching, hitting and other elements of the game that will put us in a great position to succeed.”

Two local players, both members of the Alvinston Indians roster over the past two seasons, 17-year-old Cole Pavey, and 16-year-old Robbie Black are a part of the Canadian Junior Team and are very excited to have a chance to showcase their team in Alvinston amongst a lot of family and friends.
