USA Softball Junior Men’s National Team set to begin training camp in Normal, Ill.

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2016 USA Softball season begins tomorrow for members of the USA Softball Junior Men’s National Team (JMNT) as they begin training camp in Normal, Ill.  Announced today by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the U.S., athletes will train June 24-30, which includes competing at the Bloomington Stix Midsummer Classic Tournament held in Bloomington, Ill. in addition to a series of exhibition games.

Members from the team will begin the training camp Friday morning at O’Neil Park. The team will then participate in an intrasquad scrimmage in preparation for the Bloomington Stix Midsummer Classic Tournament set to take place June 25-26. Following the tournament, the team will continue with training camp June 27-30 with exhibition games being held Tuesday through Thursday playing against: Cerro Gordo, De Kalb Hustle Dogs and Springfield Mid-American.

 

Team USA hopes to make gains on their fifth place finishes in 2012 and 2014 when they head to Midland, Mich. July 24-30 for the WBSC Junior Men’s World Championships. Held at historic Emerson Park and Currie Stadium, 13 nations from all five regions will compete for the highest prize in Junior Men’s international softball.
