Canadian Women’s National Team Ready
to Compete at US World Cup of Softball XI


(Oklahoma City, OK) The Canadian Women’s National Softball Team is set to compete at the US World Cup of Softball XI in Oklahoma City, OK this week (July 5-10). Team Canada will play its first game against New Zealand at 3:00pm CDT on Tuesday, July 5.
 
The event will feature a record thirteen teams who will be competing in two pools. The 89’ers Pool includes Australia, China, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela, while the Sooner Pool will feature Canada, the Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and USA Elite. The top team from each pool will advance to the Gold medal game, while the remaining team will compete in placement games on the final day of competition. Live scoring and webstreaming will be available through the event website.
 
Team Canada recently completed a pair of Exhibition Series in California and Japan.
 
Following the completion of the US World Cup of Softball XI, all twelve national teams will travel to Surrey, BC to compete at the WBSC Women’s World Softball Championship from July 15-24, which will feature a record 31 teams.
