Midland, MI - Winning start for Junior Black Sox at World Championships


The Temperzone Junior Black Sox are off to a solid start at the Junior Men’s World Championships in Michigan, USA with a 3-1 win over Canada.

 

New Zealand opened the scoring against arch rivals Canada in the bottom of the first inning with one run off 2 hits.

 

Catcher and lead off Jarome McKenzie got the Juniors off and running with a triple to the right field corner. Reilly Makea son of Black Sox legend and Head Coach Thomas Makea drove the ball up the middle to put the kiwis 1-0 up.

 

New Zealand went onto score runs in the 4th and 6th with Canada pulling back one in the 7th.

 

New Zealand has two games tomorrow; 5am - Israel and 11am - Japan.
