Midland, MI - Junior Black Sox beat Argentina in a nail-biter at Softball World Champs

The Temperzone Junior Black Sox are one step away from a place in the final of the WBSC Jnr World Championships after a narrow 3-2 win over Argentina this morning in Midland, USA.

 

New Zealand went 2-0 up after the first inning and added another run in sixth through a towering home run by Harrison Valk.

 

Argentina clawed back two runs in the last two innings and were close to tying the game when closing pitcher Bailey Hamilton struck out the last Argentine batter with runners on first and third base.

 

Daniel Chapman was strong on the mound for New Zealand with 12 strikeouts. Chapman allowed one earned run, three hits and one walk over six innings.

 

New Zealand out hit the current world champions 7 to 4 with Jacob Zurcher taking two hits and an RBI.

 

New Zealand will now play the winner of the Japan v USA game for an opportunity to be the first team into the grand finale.
