Alvinston, ON - - Aces Lose on the Road

Alvinston traveled to Port Stanley on Tuesday night for a return engagement with the Port Stanley Pirates. Neither team had their best lineup, however Port Stanley took advantage of Alvinston errors on the way to a 4-3 win.

Alvinston failed to deliver in the top of the first inning, as they left the bases full without delivering a run.  They were however the first to score, when Andy Triest singled, stole second base and third base, before scoring via a walk with the bases loaded by Jamie Shields, who collected the RBI.

An error by Alvinston contributed to the tying run scoring, as the game was tied at 1 after three innings.  In the bottom of the fourth, Port Stanley put their stamp on the lead.  Two Alvinston errors eventually led to a Cassidy North three-run homerun, making the score 4-1.

Alvinston pecked away, as Jamie Shields came around to score, after Brad Cooper hit a sacrifice fly to score him from third.  They had an opportunity to do much more damage, however they left the bases loaded yet again.

Alvinston was able to score one more run in the seventh, but it was not enough, as the bases were left loaded once again, in a 4-3 loss.

Jeff Laidlaw pitched well for Port Stanley to earn the victory.  Bryan Johnson suffered the loss for Alvinston.

With the loss, the Alvinston Aces fall to 2-2 on the season.  They are scheduled to play Thursday night in Alvinston against the Oneida River Kings at 8:00pm.
