2017 USA Softball Men’s National Team Pan American Championship roster named

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The final 15-player roster for the 2017 USA Softball Men’s National Team (MNT) was announced today by USA Softball. Athletes selected will compete in the Pan American Championship September 15-24 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The complete game schedule for the Pan American Championship will be announced at a later date, however the 16 teams slated to compete are: Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela.  At the last Pan American Championship, which was held in 2014 in Parana, Argentina, the U.S. finished in fourth place after compiling a 4-4 record.

 

This marks the first international competition for the MNT since the team earned a sixth-place finish at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men’s World Championship, which was held July 7-16 in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.  The team finished the World Championship with a 6-3 record, hitting .300 as a team with 15 home runs and 64 RBI while the pitching staff combined for 74 strikeouts in 49 innings in the circle.
