The 2018 ISC World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario August 11-18, 2018

How awesome is that! The ISC World Tournament back in Kitchener!

What made it even more so was being invited by the co-chairs of the tournament,  Bernie Burnett and Larry Cox to be part of the host committee leading up to and during The Show in Kitchener August 11-18.

For some time now I have been working with Bernie and Larry as well as key members of their team in getting the word out and in planning how to keep the communications flowing during The Show.

The frosting on the cake was the fact that Bernie and Larry invited my longtime friend and co-worker in the stats trailer Gary Baughman to join us in Kitchener for The Show. Gary’s reputation as the ISC Stats Man is well known and now that he is retired from the ISC, fans will be delighted that he is joining the gang in Kitchener to help round out the production of daily stats including in the well-known ball park publication, Diamond Dirt.

We have been working with John Thompson on details related to both Diamond Dirt and the world famous ISC Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast on Sunday, August 12.

This week Gary is packing up, loading the van for the trip from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Kitchener, Ontario.

I should have been doing the same because, that was the plan. Unfortunately, life events beyond our control come up at the absolute worst time and my trip is off. I will not be in Kitchener for The Show.

I want to thank Bernie and Larry for their kind invitation to work with the host committee in Kitchener. The volunteer base in Kitchener is second to none and the crew working on the 2018 ISC World Tournament is the absolute best.

I want to thank as well, John Thompson, chair of the Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast group that will put on a great show this Sunday. Working with John is always a pleasure, we have done it a few times and this Sunday would have been a highlight for me.

The Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast and Ceremony is sold out, so I do hope all my friends already have their tickets.

Clearly the biggest disappointment for me in missing The Show is not being able to spend a week in the trailer with my good friend Gary Baughman. Do me a big favour and stop by his trailer this week and say hello to the hardest working guy in the game.

I will also miss the opportunity to touch base with so many old friends who will be in town for the week.

I hope the weather all week is fantastic and that record breaking crowds turn out for the best show in town, ISC The Show.
