The OIWFA is a 13 team league of Ontario Universities.
 

The objectives of the OIWFA are:

  1. To give women who are attending an Ontario University an opportunity to play fastpitch.
  1. To foster new friends and give new experiences to the women/student athlete of each team by introducing them to other universities, to players from the other universities, and to foster respect and admiration for their fellow competitors.
  1. To use Fastpitch Softball as a vehicle to help promote their University within their community.
  1. To help promote Women’s Fastpitch Softball.

Laurier Golden Hawks’ Jade McGarr has been named week one’s Athlete of the Week for the Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association (OIWFA), leading the Golden Hawks to a 4-0 record in the opening weekend of the season.

 

In her first year of the Masters of Education program at Laurier, McGarr had 13 hits with stellar defensive play. She had two homeruns over the weekend, one of which gave the Golden Hawks the come from behind win against the Ottawa Gee Gees and the second homerun was part of her hitting for the cycle against the Carleton Ravens on Sunday as part of a five hit performance.
