Alvinston, ON - - Aces Win 8-2 to win League title

The Alvisnton Aces repeated as South Middlesex Men's Fastball League Champions with a 8-2 win in game 4 of the series in Appin on Tuesday night.

Alvinston has now won the championship in back-to-back years, and 2 of the 3 years they have competed in the league.  Taylor Degraw turned in a fine performance for Alvinston, as he was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks, and striking out 13 batters.

Andy Triest drove in Chris Drew for the game's first run in the second inning, and Joe Triest drove in Drew and Robbie Black in the fourth inning, pitting Alvinston to a 3-0 lead. Appin would get close in the bottom of the 6th, by scoring their first run when Brad Wolfe drove home Nate Johnson, but Degraw struckout the final 2 batters to leave the bases loaded.

Then Alvinston came to the dish in the top of the seventh, and tacked on 5 runs, on their way to what ended up being an 8-2 win. Joe Triest reached base in every at bat, as he was 3/3, with a walk, a run, 2 rbi's, and he was hit by a pitch.  Cole Pavey had a big 2 RBI hit in the seventh inning, which helped to produce the big inning for Alvinston. Rowan lam and Chris Drew each walked three times in the Alvinston win.

Congrats to Alvinston on their 2018 SMMFL Playoff Championship, and congrats to Appin on making the finals a good series for the fans.

Thanks
