Sad news out of Niagara Falls as long time coach and manager Dave Rotella passed way earlier this week after a brief illness, Dave was involved with fastball for a s long as I've been playing in some capacity and was an integral part of the executive that ran ball in Niagara Falls. Dave was instrumental in the formation of the GHFL. Dave's team were always a close knit family atmosphere and we pass on condolences to all of Dave's former players as well as his family, wife Linda and his two sons Dave Jr and Phil as well as their families.

ROTELLA, David Michael Sr. Passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side at St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the age of 73. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Mallett. He was a loving father of David Jr. (Anna) and Philip Rotella, and a cherished grandpa to his pride and joys, Evan and Madison Rotella. He will also be missed by his grand-doggie Rusty. Dear brother-in-law of Louis Sargeson. Predeceased by his parents Sam and Constance Rotella, his sisters Theresa Sargeson, Mary, Vera, and Carmel Rotella, and his brother Louis Rotella. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and brothers- and sisters- in-law. David worked for 17 years at Coca Cola and then for 30 years as a civilian with the Niagara Regional Police. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and had been active as a coach with boy's fastball and later coached men's fastball. He was also an avid New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME , 6062 Main St. visiting Wednesday 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Lundy's Lane Cemetery. In memory of David, donations to the Niagara Health Foundation (Walker Family Cancer Centre) would be appreciated by his family.
