Rex Marquardt Memorial tournament in Petoskey is underway with ideal weather conditions on the bay here in northern Michigan. Rex was a long time organizer and tournament director here in Petoskey at the waterfront that was later named Ed White field. Rex, Dick Harbaugh and Ed White ran tournaments here for nearly 30 years. This particular tournament started out as The Holiday Invitational in 1970 and has been held every year since featuring some of the best teams in the Midwest. This is the 49th annual Holiday Invitational that was renamed the Rex Marquardt Memorial after Rex passed away in 1997 and the tournament was renamed in his honor renamed in 1998.
