Waterloo, ON - - OIWFA Week Two Athletes of the Week
The OIWFAÂ is please to announce Jade McGarr of the Laurier Golden Hawks and Erika Erika Degabriele of the Queen's Gaels as the OIWFAÂ Week Two Athlete's of the Week.
McGarr led the Golden Hawks to a 3-0 week three record, moving them to 7-0 on the season and in sole possession of first place in the OIWFA. Jade lef the offence in week two, going 6 for 9 with a home run and three runs scored. McGarr was the only run scored in a 1-0 win over Western when she made a miraculous slide into home in the bottom of the sixth for the Laurier win. McGarr was also a highlight reel at third base with a number of exceptional plays as Laurier continues to lead the league in least runs allowed after week two.
Erika Degabriele batted .650 with 9 hits, which included two home runs. She also had an incredible 9 RBIs over the weekend. She helped move the Gael's into first place in the OIWFAÂ East Division.
These two athletes will face off this weekend as the Golden Hawks travel to Kingston to take on the Gael's on Sunday morning at 11AM and 1PM at Garrigan Park.
