Council Members head to Sparks, Nevada for 88th USA Softball Annual Council Meeting

Sparks, Nev. –– USA Softball Council Members and guests have headed west to Sparks, Nevada as the National Governing Body (NGB) of Softball in the United States holds their 88th Annual Council Meeting at the Nugget Casino Resort Hotel.  Held November 9-15, USA Softball administrators, players and tournament hosts will participate in a series of meetings to evaluate the needs of the organization, award 2021 National Championships and discuss proposed rule and code changes for all divisions of USA Softball.

A highlight of the Annual Meeting, USA Softball will honor eight individuals with the National Softball Hall of Fame induction ceremony this evening. This 39th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet will honor the following inductees: Rick Havercroft (Umpire), Britt Hightower (Slow Pitch Player), Warren Jones (Meritorious Service), Tony Laws (Meritorious Service), Jessica Mendoza (Fast Pitch Player), Mike Nye (Slow Pitch Player), Ron Parnell (Slow Pitch Player) and Joey L. Rich (Commissioner).
  
The first General Council Session will take place on Sunday, November 10, where all Council Members and guests will hear from USA Softball President John Gouveia (USA Softball of Northern California Commissioner) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Craig Cress on the state of USA Softball.  The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will also announce the 2020 National Softball Hall of Fame inductees following their committee meeting earlier in the day.
  
The Wilson Sporting Goods Awards Luncheon, which honors Council Members for their Years of Service and USA Softball National Championship sites, will be held on Wednesday, November 13. Later that evening, the annual Trade Show, which features exhibits from cities bidding on the USA Softball National Championships, equipment manufacturers and softball suppliers, will also take place.
 
The 2019 Annual Meeting will conclude on Thursday, November 14 as the final General Council Session will take place as all code, procedural manual and rule changes will be announced. The USA Softball Council Members will also decide which cities will host the 2021 National Championships, which is one of the most anticipated decisions made by the council as each USA Softball National Championship has the potential to have thousands of dollars in economic impact for the host city.
