OKLAHOMA CITY — The 2020 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) will be in Johnson City, Tenn. May 30, 2020 for a pair of exhibition contests as the “Stand Beside Her” tour rolls through the United States in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Held at TVA Credit Union Ballpark (199-131 Legion Street, Johnson City, Tenn., 37601), home of the Johnson City Cardinals, Johnson City will host the Red, White and Blue as they look to capture the Gold Medal in Tokyo when the sport of softball returns to the Olympic program for the first time since 2008.

"Each tour stop gives the Olympic Team the ability to prepare together for the Tokyo 2020 Games,” said 2020 WNT member, Michelle Moultrie. “It’s a dream come true for us to get six months of training together before competing in the Games. We have had such amazing support from fans and can't wait for the opportunity to play for them and meet them in person along the tour! We are very excited to come to Johnson City, Tennessee and hope to see you there!"

Team USA is slated for a doubleheader, with their first contest against Milligan College before closing out the tour stop with a game against a collegiate All-Star squad comprised of athletes from Milligan College and East Tennessee State University. The Red, White and Blue will face off against the Buffs at 1 p.m. ET before facing off with the All-Star team roughly 35 minutes after the conclusion of the 1 p.m. contest.

Tickets for the game will go on sale on December 16 at 11 a.m. ET at http://www.jccardinals.com/ for the following prices: General Admission adults ($20), General Admission youth ($15), Reserved adult ($25), Reserved youth ($20) and VIP ($60) while children two years and under are free.

“It is an honor for USA Softball of Tennessee and Johnson City to be selected as a stop on the ‘Stand Beside Her’ tour as the Women’s National Team prepares for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games,” said USA Softball of Tennessee Commissioner, James Ellis. “We hosted the Bound 4 Beijing Tour in 2008 as more than 3,400 fans cheered on the Red, White and Blue and we look forward to hosting even more with this event.”

With the return of softball to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games program, the “Stand Beside Her” tour provides much-needed training and competition for the 2020 WNT in their preparation for the Olympic Games while also giving fans a chance to watch the Red, White and Blue in person. Olympic competition will start July 22, 2020 with the Gold Medal Game being played on July 28.

The “Stand Beside Her” tour evokes a powerful message of unity aimed to inspire communities to stand beside HER – the members of the WNT, America and the future generation of female athletes.

“Johnson City, Tennessee is honored to host USA Softball Women’s National Team for an exhibition game in May 2020,” said Johnson City Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director, Brenda Whitson. “It is very special for a community and region to have the opportunity to see Olympic athletes play firsthand. It will be an experience that many will never forget.”

Additional stops for the “Stand Beside Her” tour will be announced at a later date. For more information on the “Stand Beside Her” tour, please visit StandBesideHerTour.com.
