OKLAHOMA CITY – USA Softball is pleased to announce the addition of Kim Ng (New York, N.Y.) to the Board of Directors. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President, Baseball & Softball Development for Major League Baseball (MLB), Ng’s appointment comes following the addition of an independent director to the USA Softball Board of Directors.

"I am thrilled to be named to the Board of USA Softball, and I hope to pay forward the strength and inspiration the game and its advocates have provided to me my entire life,” Ng said. “After a lifetime of involvement with amateur softball and my 30 years as a professional baseball executive, I have come to see the future growth of the two sports as strongly linked. I look forward to working with my colleagues at USA Softball to shepherd this game to new heights."

Ng currently oversees MLB’s efforts to propagate the game globally, working with the baseball leagues and entities around the world, as well as spearheading MLB’s girls softball programming and initiatives.

Prior to joining MLB’s Central Office, Ng was vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers for nine years (2002-2011). With the Dodgers, Ng’s primary duties included assisting in all player transactions, including trades, signing free agents, player research and overseeing the club’s salary arbitration efforts and pro scouting department. In 2004, she also served as the Club’s interim Farm Director. Before joining the Dodgers, Ng held the position of Vice President, Assistant General Manager of the New York Yankees from 1998-2001, during which time the club won three World Series Championships.

Ng is the second woman ever to hold an Assistant General Manager position with a Major League club and is the only woman to have ever interviewed for a General Manager position in any major professional men’s sport. She began her baseball career with the Chicago White Sox before becoming the Director of Waivers and Records for the American League Office.
