Baseball, softball world governing body WBSC opens permanent headquarters in Switzerland to stay close to the Olympic Movement

 

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) officially opened its new and permanent global headquarters in Pully, Switzerland, directly adjacent to the Olympic capital city of Lausanne. The new headquarters have been named "Home Plate" and is owned and operated by the WBSC. The new WBSC headquarters meets many of the world governing body's sustainability goals with 90% of the building's electricity coming from roof top solar panels.

WBSC Headquarters: New chapter in history, exciting future for global baseball, softball


International baseball and softball has now its own, permanent headquarters in Pully, a suburb in the Olympic capital Lausanne, Switzerland. The new WBSC HQ, called Home Plate, will be the base where Baseball and Softball World Cups are planned and from where all international competitions will be monitored and sanctioned.

WBSC Vice President Beatrice Allen named IOC Honorary Member


Allen, a WBSC Vice President since October 2017, will be awarded the Honorary Membership and the Olympic Order medal in the IOC Session 137, scheduled for early 2021 in Athens, Greece. "On behalf of the entire World Baseball Softball Confederation, allow me to offer you my warmest and most sincere congratulations on being granted the prestigious status of Honorary IOC Member," WBSC President Fraccari said in a personal letter.

Softball Japan unveils new national team uniforms for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games


The Japanese Softball Association (JSA) unveiled new women's national team uniforms, which will be worn at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, when baseball and softball make their historic Olympic comebacks. The defending Olympic champions are returning to the traditional red and white colour scheme, after two years of dressing in gold and white.

WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup in Peru postponed to 2021


The WBSC, together with the Peruvian Softball Federation and the Peruvian Sports Institute (Instituto Peruano del Deporte, IPD), today announced the postponement of this year's WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup to 2021 in consideration of the global health and safety measures and travel limitations pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic.
