OKLAHOMA CITY –– With less than 100 days until the Tokyo Olympic Games, USA Softball is proud to announce the addition of four exhibition contests for the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) set to held June 19-20 in Sugar Land, Texas. Hosted by USA Softball of Houston, Team USA will compete in two days of doubleheaders at Constellation Field (1 Stadium Drive, Sugar Land, TX 77498) as part of the 2021 “Stand Beside Her” tour, presented by Major League Baseball (MLB).

“I am so excited to be returning to my hometown for a stop on our pre-Olympic tour,” said WNT member and Houston-native, Cat Osterman. “Houston has been a staple for USA Softball Olympic tours and always has a great turnout of fans. I can’t wait for Houston to cheer on the Red, White and Blue!”

The Red, White, and Blue will square off in four exhibition contests against “Team Alliance”, which will consist of collegiate and/or professional athletes supported by Alliance Fastpitch member leagues. Played at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, Team USA will kick off on Saturday, June 19 with a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. CT followed by another doubleheader on Saturday, June 20 at 1 p.m. CT. Game two for both days will take place approximately 35 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

“We are really excited for the ‘Stand Beside Her’ tour to return to Houston,” said USA Softball of Houston Commissioner, Stoney Burke. “This is the fifth time we have hosted the Women’s National Team and third time that we’ve hosted an Olympic tour. USA Softball of Houston is also extremely proud to have two Olympians who have represented the U.S. on the Olympic stage: Two-time Olympian and 2018 USA Softball National Hall of Fame inductee, Christa Williams, who graduated from Dobie High school and was the youngest player ever named to an Olympic team, and two-time Olympian Cat Osterman who is a part of the 2021 Olympic roster.  We anticipate tickets to sell out fast and look forward to this great event!”

Tickets for the games will go on sale Wednesday, April 28 through the Skeeters Box Office. Additional information on ticket sales and COVID-19 ballpark guidelines will be announced at a later date. Click here for more information.

“We’re really honored to be one of the few select cities to host Team USA on their road to Tokyo,’’ said Harris County – Houston Sports Authority Chief Executive Officer, Janis Burke. “Houston supports its Olympians like few other major cities and this event gives our local community a chance to get behind and empower some of the best female athletes in the world. It’s an opportunity, not only for the girls and women in the area to see Cat Osterman and the other members of the USA Softball Women’s Olympic Team kick off their road to the Tokyo Olympic Games, but also a chance for them to stand beside the star athletes they hope to be one day."

"We are excited to host the USA Softball Women’s National Team at Constellation Field as they prepare for the return of softball to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games," said Sugar Land Mayor, Joe Zimmerman. "It's another opportunity for visitors to learn what makes our city so special. Sugar Land serves up big city amenities with small town hospitality. Whether it is a piece of history, shopping or hours of family fun, Sugar Land offers something sweet for everyone. And of course, we are proud to show off our professional baseball stadium.  It's a state-of-art facility that continues to exceed attendance expectations and welcome new visitors to our city."

Following the postponement of the pre-Olympic “Stand Beside Her” tour, presented by MLB, the Red, White, and Blue squad resumed preparations for the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympic Games in January with a series of monthly training camps and exhibition games.
