Jennie Finch Classic set to take place at the Softball Capital of the World®

OKLAHOMA CITY – In conjunction with Major League Baseball (MLB) and Church & Dwight Co., the makers of ARM & HAMMER™️, USA Softball is excited to host the third-annual Jennie Finch Classic, presented by ARM & HAMMER. Athletes ages 14-17 from MLB Academies across the nation will gather at the Softball Capital of the World® for three days of competition starting tonight and running through Sunday, September 19.

Games will begin tonight at 7 p.m. CT and continue through the weekend with the Championship Game scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m CT. The double-elimination tournament consists of five MLB Academy teams who will compete for the Championship trophy, including: Compton MLB Youth Academy, Houston Astros MLB Youth Academy, New Orleans MLB Youth Academy, Philadelphia Phillies MLB Youth Academy, and Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy.

Olympic Gold Medalist, NCAA Women’s College World Series Champion, and MLB Youth Softball Ambassador Jennie Finch will be on-site to meet and speak with the athletes, as well as other special guests including the University of Oklahoma Softball alumna Lauren Chamberlain.

In addition to the competition, an MLB blue-ribbon panel, including Finch, will select one special participant as the recipient of the Jennie Finch Empowerment Award presented by ARM & HAMMER. Each year, four young women who demonstrate positive characteristics through their participation in MLB-led softball programs are celebrated with the Jennie Finch Empowerment Award presented by ARM & HAMMER. Winners of the Award will each receive a $10,000 college scholarship, courtesy of ARM & HAMMER, as well as a trip to the 2021 World Series, where they will be recognized prior to a game. The panel will select the participant at the Jennie Finch Classic who best exemplifies characteristics such as Leadership, Motivation, Commitment, Humility, and Integrity. The Award presentation will take place on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT at OGE Energy Field.
