ISF - XII Men’s World Softball Championship Schedule Released
(Ottawa,ON) – The International Softball Federation (ISF) has officially released theschedule for the ISF XII Men’s World Softball Championships. Canada will be hosting the event, which will be held from July 17th-26th 2009 at Bob Van Impe Stadium and Gordon Howe Park in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Sixteen (16) countries will be represented at the event, including three-time defending champion New Zealand, as well as Argentina, Australia, Botswana, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Great Britain, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa, the United States and Venezuela. Each team will feature the very best male softball players from their respective countries.
Canada previously earned silver medals at the ISF World Championship in 2004 in Christchurch, New Zealand and in 1996 in Midland, Michigan. Their last Gold Medal came in 1992, when they defeated New Zealand in the Grand Final in Manila, Philippines.
The sixteen-team field will be divided into two groups of eight that will play within their division in round robin play, which will be played from July 17thto 23rd, 2009. The top four countries of each division will advance to the playoff round on July 24th and 25th followed by the Bronze and Gold Medal games on July 26th.
The tournament’s first game will feature Botswana against Denmark on July 17th (10:00am local time). Canada will play its opening game against Argentina later that night (7:00pm).

Horaire du Championnat du monde masculin XII del’ISF Annoncé
(Ottawa,ON) – La Fédération Internationale de Softball (ISF) a officiellement annoncél’horaire pour le Championnat du monde masculin de softball XII de l’ISF. LeCanada sera le pays hôte de l’événement, qui aura lieu du 17 au 26 juillet,2009 au Stade Bob Van Impe et au Parc Gordon Howe à Saskatoon, au Saskatchewan.
Seize(16) pays seront représentés au tournoi, incluant les champions en titre àtrois reprises de la Nouvelle-Zélande, ainsi que l’Argentine, l’Australie, leBotswana, le Canada, la République Tchèque, le Danemark, la Grande Bretagne,l’Indonésie, le Japon, le Mexique, les Philippines, le Puerto Rico, l’Afriquedu Sud, les États-Unis et le Venezuela. Chaque équipe mettra en vedette sesmeilleurs athlètes de softball masculins.
LeCanada s’est mérité des médailles d’argent aux Championnats du monde précédentsen 2004 à Christchurch, en Nouvelle-Zélande et en 1996 à Midland, au Michigan.Leur dernière médaille d’or est venue en 1992 lorsqu’ils ont remporté la grandefinale face à la Nouvelle-Zélande à Manilles, aux Philippines.
Lesseize équipes seront divisées en deux groupes de huit qui joueront entre eux enronde préliminaire, qui se jouera du 17 au 23 juillet, 2009. Les quatremeilleures formations de chaque division avanceront à la ronde éliminatoire quisera présenté les 24 et 25 juillet suivi de la finale (Bronze) et la Grandefinale (Or) le 26 juillet.
Lapremière partie du tournoi mettra en vedette le Botswana contre le Danemark (17juillet, 12:00 heure locale). Le Canada jouera sa première partie contrel’Argentine plus tard en soirée (19:00).
