The World Series All-Star Exhibition Fastpitch Men’s Softball Match- June 13- Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Fields- a game organised by players, for players.
 
THIS WEEK: Last minute info as the big day draws closer, week 2’s legends are named and the World Series All-Star team members are announced!
 
A quick update and reminders:
  • We are pleased to announce 4KQ radio are going to join the party BEFORE THE COACHING CLINIC and will be providing giveaways to kids from 2:30pm
  • A reminder that juniors of all ages from t-ball to Under 19’s are invited to attend the FREE coaching clinic which starts at 3:00pm. Participants will be separated into age groups and coaching will be provided at various stations by the participants in the World Series All-Star game covering all aspects of the game. All participants will get a sample bag of goodies
  • The pre-game entertainment kicks off at 4:45pm with a home run and fastest pitch contest etc. Who will contest these challenges and how they will work will be detailed later in the week
  • The main game starts at 6:30pm (FREE ENTRANCE) and will be professionally commentated by the maestro of the microphone, commentator extraordinaire Mr Dave Horne
  • We can confirm that the ceremonious first pitch of the game will be delivered by a recent TV celebrity!
  • There will be drinks, a bbq and pizza available as well as a coffee van to keep you warm and kiwi goodies available for purchase
  • HAPPY HOUR- from the first pitch of the game to the first run of the game!!!
  • Music and entertainment to late.
 
Last week’s profile players- who?:
  • Was a member of the Australian Open Men’s team from 1991 to 2000 having competed at 3 World Series: the Philippines (1992), Michigan (1996), and South Africa (2000)? Won the International Softball Conference in 1993 and Runner Up the next year, he also played for the Qld Open Men’s between 1989-1992 and 1994-2001 (Champions 1995) and also for ACT in 1993 (Champions) and 2003 (Champions) during which time was awarded 3 Open Men’s Nationals MVP and one Best Batter awards. An inductee to the ISF Hall of Fame (2005), the Australian Softball Hall of Fame (2004) and 3 time ISC All World Team member (1993, 1994 and 1995), ladies and gentlemen Mr Shane King will be joining us and playing for the World Series All-Star team.
 
·         Played for the Open Men’s Black Sox fastpitch team representing New Zealand from 1981 to 1992 and attending the Open Men’s World Series in Michigan (1984- Champions) and Canada (1988- Runner’s Up)? Played in the American Softball Association Champion team in 1991 and won the New Zealand Nationals a 5 times over 13 years as well as being awarded NZ National’s Best Batter 4 times and NZ Player of the Year in 1987? None other than Mr Murray McLean, and he’ll be co-coaching the World Series All-Star team on the night.
