The Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association is at it again! They will be hosting another major event next summer. SASA president Bryan Kosteroski is pleased to announce that they havewon the bid to host the 2010 Hilton Garden Inn Canadian Junior Ladies FastpitchChampionship. The championship will take place Sunday, August 1- August 8 at BobBan Van Impe Stadium and Gordie Howe ParkThe organizers are expecting as many as 16of the best 19-23 year old women’s teams from across Canada.

The last time Saskatoonhosted this event in 2004, fans saw the rise to prominence of Saskatoonian DionneMeier, who represented Canadaat last year’s Beijing Olympics. When softball is reinstated into the Olympicsin October, you can be assured some of these ladies will be on that Olympic teamjust as Dionne was.

We expect strong local interest as the Saskatoon Outlaws whopresently play in the SASA Women’s Division 1 League is the defending CanadianChampions. Coach Earle Woodside says, the squad that will be around next summershould be the strongest group he has ever had and will be a real contender.
