Durham College women’s fastball player Erin Dewey on the FAN 590 this weekend
OSHAWA, Ont. – Make sure you check out the ‘Sunday Morning’ show on the FAN 590 this weekend as Durham College fastball shortstop and three-time OCAA Player of the Year Erin Dewey will be on the show.

Every Sunday morning from 8-10 a.m. on the FAN 590, David Grossman hosts the ‘Sunday Morning’ show which takes a look at the world of amateur sports.

David Grossman is an award-winning sports journalist with the Toronto Star, Canada's largest newspaper, and is well known for getting the story behind the story in the exciting and often controversial side of high school sports in the Greater Toronto Area. He strongly believes that academics and athletics go hand-in-hand and is known for his outstanding career in promoting school sports.

A QUICK LOOK AT ERIN DEWEYErin Dewey was named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s fastball player of the year for the third consecutive season in a ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Centre in Oshawa, Ont.. on October 14.
 
The Port Hope, Ont., native posted a .677 batting average, scoring a league-high 20 runs while contributing 12 RBI. Her 21 hits were also most in the league. The third-year shortstop was also honored as the OCAA’s top batter in 2010, and named an OCAA all-star for the third time. Erin is a member of an undefeated Lords team that compiled a 10-0 regular season record, and went on to win the OCAA championship. It is Dewey’s first OCAA title.
 
At the OCAA women’s fastball championship, the Lords went 3-0 to win its record 15th OCAA banner. Dewey went 4-for-8 in the championship scoring four runs while driving in three RBI.
 
Durham took part in the 2010 Canadian collegiate women’s fastball championship in Saskatoon, Sask., earning a bronze medal. Dewey went 7-for-20 at the plate against the nation’s top teams for a .350 average in six games, scoring five times and driving in two runs.
 
In 2009, Erin had a .488 regular season batting average in 12 games, going 20-for-41. She scored 14 runs and drove in 13 RBI. In her rookie season in 2008, Erin led OCAA with a .543 average and 25 hits in 46 plate appearances.. Her 21 RBI also led the OCAA. Erin also scored 20 runs en route to rookie of the year honors. She tied three OCAA records that season, including five runs in a game, 25 hits in a season, and five hits in a game.
 
Erin is the OCAA career leader in batting average with a .559 mark over three seasons.
