                                 THE HOUNDS MOVE INTO FIRST PLACE

                       There was a doubleheader played Monday night in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex . The Dog House was involved in both games of the doubleheader . In the opener at 7 pm , Matt Behn ( 3-0 ) of the Hounds had and excellent outing on the mound giving but two runs ( both earned ) on two hits while striking 4 batters .In his five innings of of work he only faced 18 betters with only four reaching base . In the end the Hounds pounded the Dog House to the tune of 16-2 and moved into first place . The North Stars ( their arch rivals ) do have 4 games in hand . The North Stars return to action on Thursday night . For the Dog House Bruce McDonald ( 0-5 ) started but gave way to Mike Greskow ( 1-3 ) in the fifth frame . Both pitchers combined to give up 16 runs ( 3 unearned ) ( McDonald 11 , Greskow 5 ) on 13 hits while fanning 4 (all to McDonald ) and issuing 4 walks . League leading hitter , short stop Eddy Roy of the Hounds ( 2 runs , 2 run shot to center and 4 rbi’s ) continued his hot pace going a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate and now has a 692 average and a 1263 slugging percentage .Teammate Matt Behn ( run , rbi ) went 2 for 2 .Brad McDonald ( double ) hit 1 for 1 in a losing cause for the Dog House ..
                         In the nightcap the Panthers and the Dog House combined for 28 runs with the Panthers coming up on top 16-12 . Rylan Stolar (1-1 ) started for the Panthers giving way to Owen Peltier ( 1-0 ) in the fourth who then was replaced by Brad Matheson ( 1-1 ) in the 6th . All three pitchers ( Peltier was the winner in relief ) combined to give up 12 runs ( 4 unearned ) on 9 hits fanning 5 and issuing 5 walks . Mike Greskow ( 1-4 ) went the distance giving up 16 runs ( 4 unearned ) on 18 hits , striking out 7 and issuing 1 walk . Bruno Lacasse ( 5 runs ,solo home run , triple and 3 rbi’s ) led the way for the winners with a perfect evening at the dish going a perfect 5 for 5 with teammate Caldon Kimewon( run , triple , rbi ) hitting 3 for 5 . Dan Quesnel ( 3 runs , dbl , trpl ) hit 3 for 4 in a losing cause for the Dog House .
                           League play resumes in Garson at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park on Thursday July the 10th .In the opening game of the doubleheader at 7 pm , league leading Garson Hounds battle with the Panthers while in the nightcap at 9 pm , the North Stars out of a 2 week hiatus tangle with the Doghouse ..
                            Local teams and out of town teams are reminded that there are only 11 days before the deadline of July the 19th for the 5th Annual Brad Rienguette “ Shamou Shoot Out “ Fastball Tournament . The tournament gets underway on Saturday July the 26th in Azilda at the Rick McDonald Memorial Sports Complex .
