Semi final action

In semi final #1 the JB Soxs number 1 seed in the Brad Division took on the Panthers seed number 2 from division Sham . Ken Besner and the Sox were no match for the young Panthers .Besner powered himself to a 2 hitter with only 4 batters reaching base in the 20 he faced . Pat Brennan Sr went all the way for the Panthers giving up 8 runs (7 earned)  on 7 hits while striking out 4 and issuing but 1 single walk . Red hot Eddy Roy led the way for JB going 3 for 3 (2 runs ,double , 2 RBI’s) with son Jeremy chipping in with a 2 for 3 performance (double , 2 runs )  . Pat Rogers was the only bright light for the Panthers going 1 for 2 a two run homer in a losing cause ..
In semi final #2 the number 1 seed from the Sham division , the Sudbury Aquatech North Stars took on the Wiky Lumberjacks number 2 seed from the Brad division in what was expected to be the better of both semis . To the contrary the North Stars took it to Wiky from the opening frame pounding 5 runs on 5 hits and continued in the same fashion in the second inning to take a whopping 10-0 lead . The Wiky boys could not recover and the game was called after 3 because of the 10 run mercy rule .. Mike Loach pitcher a perfect 3 inning game with 1 fanned batter , 3 ground outs and 5 pop ups to the outfield .Brent Assinawe took the loss with Jason Peltier coming in for some relief  in the second .Heikel Espanosa (center fielder) , 3rd home run of the tournament) and Lyle Baibomcai (2nd home run of the tournament) both went 2 for 2 for the North Stars with Mark Cain also going 2 for 2 (double) .

Championship final

JB SOX   VS SUDBURY AQUATECH NORTH STARS

The two powerhouses in the tournament both at 4-0 met in the final as expected .The Red Sox bats continued their onslaught as they hamered a tired Mike Loach (North Stars’ pitcher ) with 6 runs on 7 hits in the first two frames . The North Stars bats awoke in the 3rd inning as they scored 4 on Tim Conway (3-0) and made a game of it at 6-4 . The North Stars could only manage 1 run in the remaining 4 frames as the Sox’s bats came to the forefront once more pounding 5 runs on 8 hits to going away 11-5 . Tim Conway goes 3-0 for his 3rd win and top pitcher for the tournament  giving up but five runs in 18 innings of work . Once again Eddy Roy leads the batting assault going 3 for 3 picking up his 3rd home run of the tournament and an batting average of  615 [8 for 13] matched by his teammate Ted Conway . Jesse St Cyr hit 2 for 3 (double) in a losing cause for the North Stars . The MVP’s for this championship game were  Jesse St Cyr of the North Stars and Joel Belanger of the champions JB Sox.
