Oregon freshman slugger Jenna Lilley tabbed Week 3 USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY — In just her first NCAA Softball season, Oregon's Jenna Lilley (North Canton, Ohio) has earned her first USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week honor following a .500 batting performance for the Ducks in a nine-game road trip through Texas.  In addition to her USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week honors, Lilley was also named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.

"I am very humbled to receive this award, although my teammates and coaches are just as deserving," said Lilley.  "We are all in this together."

Lilley recorded a hit in every game this past week, driving in eight runs while scoring nine of her own, punching five doubles, a triple and four stolen bases.  The Ohio native also had multiple hits in six of her nine games, including two perfect outings when she went 2-for-2 against Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian.  Lilley had her biggest game of the week against then-No. 25 Tulsa, driving in all four of Oregon's runs with a bases-clearing double and an RBI single en route to a 4-1 win.  She also punched in two runs in a 5-1 win over No. 22 Texas A&M.

"It’s a great honor for the program to have one of our players to achieve this recognition," said Oregon Head Coach Mike White.  "Jenna is so humble and such a hard worker, it’s a very fitting award for her.”

The freshman third baseman has provided a hot bat for the Ducks this season, having a hit in all but one game to start her career and leads the team with a .510 batting average.  She also has 18 runs scored, six doubles and 15 RBI through 15 games and has helped her team to a 14-1 record.  2015 is shaping up to be a year to remember for Lilley, who was named to the 2015 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team in January following a two-day selection camp in Irvine, Calif.

This is the first USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week honors for Oregon since Week Four of the 2014 season when Cheridan Hawkins (Anderson, Calif.) was awarded for her outstanding play.

Oregon sets it sights on the San Diego Classic this weekend where they will face off against the No. 1 ranked Florida Gators in one of four games over three days.
