Bianka Bell named to USA Softball Women's National Team roster

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball is proud to announce the selection of Bianka Bell (Tampa, Fla.) to the 2015 USA Softball Women's National Team roster.  Bell, a junior infielder currently at LSU, replaces Taylor Hoagland (Flower Mound, Texas), who recently announced her retirement.  As a member of the 2015 Women's National Team, Bell will compete in several exhibition games/tour stops throughout the U.S. in preparation for the World Cup of Softball X in Irvine, Calif. and the Japan Cup which will take place in Japan later this summer.

"I am extremely blessed and excited to have been given the opportunity to represent my country this summer," said Bell.  "What an honor to be able to wear the Red, White, and Blue while playing the game I love with 17 other women who share the same passion."

Bell is currently in her junior season at LSU and has played a vital role in the success of the Tiger's program.  In her freshman season, Bell turned in a .347 batting average and led the team with 12 home runs and 50 RBI in 56 starts to help earn her All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman Team honors.  She followed up with another successful sophomore season, batting .337 with 51 RBI, 14 home runs and a .646 slugging percentage while earning NFCA All-South Region accolades.  Currently, she leads the team in the 2015 season with a .477 average, 13 home runs, 56 runs scored and 57 RBI and is a Top 26 Finalist for the 2015 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.

As a member of the 2015 USA Softball Women's National Team, Bell will take the field in her first international event at the World Cup of Softball X, June 29-July 5 in Irvine, Calif.  Following the World Cup, Bell will also head to Japan August 3-10 for the Japan Cup.

This marks the first time Bell has been named to a National Team roster.  She attended the 2010 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team Selection Camp and also attended the Women's National Team Selection Camp earlier this year.
