ASA/USA Softball JO Player of the Week award returns for second season

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and USA Softball, the National Governing Body (NGB) of Softball in the United States, is excited to issue the second year of the ASA/USA Softball Junior Olympic (JO) Player of the Week award, presented by WORTH Sports and FullCountSoftball.com.  Recipients of the award, which will honor JO players under the age of 18 for their performance in ASA/USA play, will receive a brand new WORTH bat along with a certificate from ASA/USA Softball.  Nominations will be submitted through FullCountSoftball.com by clicking here.

“We look forward to our second year of working with these great partners on presenting the Junior Olympic Player of the Week,” said ASA/USA Softball Executive Director Craig Cress. “Year one showed some outstanding talents on the field, though we cannot recognize everyone, it is still an opportunity to recognize some very talented young athletes.”

Established to recognize JO players 18 years or younger for outstanding play in an ASA/USA sanctioned event, the ASA/USA Softball JO Player of the Week will begin its following campaign in the 2015 season.  Ten athletes, male or female, will be honored from June 5 – August 7, following the conclusion of the ASA/USA JO National Championships. Nominations will be taken on a week-by-week basis (see below schedule) and will be submitted and accepted through https://www.fullcountsoftball.com/2014/02/12/asa-player-week-form/ until noon ET every Tuesday. Winners will be announced by noon ET every Friday of the designed time frame. In order to be eligible for the award, athletes must be registered with their local ASA/USA association and must have participated in ASA/USA Softball sanctioned events or tournaments during the week nominated.

“Last year we saw some amazing performances by softball players and we’re excited to be part of the ASA/USA JO Player of the Week process again,” said Brentt Eads, Executive Editor of Full Count Softball. “As the summer rolled on, the momentum picked up as players, parents, coaches and tournament directors recognized the value of the program and this will continue as the athletes rise to the challenge and excel on the field.”
