Team Canada Ready to Compete at WBSC Men’s World Softball Championship

Team Canada Ready to Compete at
WBSC Men’s World Softball Championship


(Saskatoon, SK) The Canadian Senior Men’s National Team is ready to compete at the WBSC XIV Men’s World Championship from June 26 to July 5 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Team Canada will play its first game against Guatemala on Friday, June 26 at 6:30pm CST.
 
At the previous Men’s World Softball Championship held in Auckland, New Zealand in March of 2013, Canada finished the preliminary round in first place in its pool but lost its first two playoff games to Venezuela and Argentina in a pair of very tight contests. New Zealand ended up earning the Gold medal on home soil with a 4-1 victory over Venezuela. Canada previously hosted the event in Saskatoon in 2009, winning the Bronze medal.

A total of fifteen (15) teams will participate at the event, which will feature two pools. The top four teams from each pool will advance to the playoff round, while the top two teams from each division will earn double life. The teams that do not qualify for the playoff round will compete in the consolation round.
