Heavy rain fell around 6:30pm during the Midget
All Star Game on Diamond 1 and when it did not let up,
tournament officials met with the two first place teams and discussed
alternatives.
Clearly a lot of rain fell and field would not be
playable Saturday evening. Moving the game to Sunday morning would have really
cramped the Sunday schedule.
The Softball Canada rules were reviewed and it was
determined that in this situation the highest placed team in the round robin
could be awarded first place and the other team second team.
Each set of managers discussed this at length with
their teams and each team voted to go with the Softball Canada rule.
Scarborough Force were awarded first place in the
round robin and Shakespeare awarded second place. This enabled the tournament
organizers to set the schedule for Sunday morning.
Good luck to both teams on Sunday
