an Turnbull is Managing Director of Laird & Greer Management Consultants, focusing on Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS).  Laird & Greer offers a wide variety of services including: change management, strategic planning, perspectives on e-HR and Human Capital Asset Management, HR metrics and best practices, software requirements definition, system assessment and selection, project organization/management/ implementation, and re-engineering of business processes.

He is also a Director ofthe Canadian Privacy Institute,and Editor and chief author of a recent book published by CCH, Privacy in the Workplace – The Employment Perspective, 2004 (ISBN: 1-55367-268-2).  The Institute is a private organization that offers information, consulting services, software and education alternatives to help organizations understand and meet the practical challenges of Canada’s privacy laws in a global context.

He is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP), The Human Resource Professionals Association of Ontario (1991), and in October 2002 was given the President’s Award from the International Public Management Association of Canada (IPMA) for making an outstanding contribution to the practice of human resources management in Canada.

Ian received a Master of Business Administration (1975) from The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in London Ontario, and a Bachelor of Arts (1973), also from UWO.

His service to the HR and wider business community includes:

Mr. Turnbull has written numerous articles and spoken at professional conferences and workshops throughout North America and in Europe on general management, human resources, payroll, time management, privacy and security issues.  He has taught the practical aspects of HRMS at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Industrial Relations, contributed two modules of the Canadian Payroll Association Certification Program and has edited and authored numerous modules for the Canadian HR Study Guide series.

Turnbull assists organizations through a wide variety of services,

including change management, strategic planning, requirements definition, system assessment and selection, project organization /management/implementation, and engineering of business processes. Specializing in human resources, payroll, and time and attendance, he has also dealt with general management and operational issues. Mr. Turnbull has consulted throughout Canada and the United States in such industries as consulting engineering, distribution, education, energy, health care, government, manufacturing, mining, forestry, and retail.
