Huntsville Men's Tournament Results

                            LAKE SIMCOE LIGHTNING  WIN 36TH ANNUAL HUNTSVILLE MEN'S FASTBALL TOURNAMENT
 
                                                                Once again Mother Nature co-operated and gave us excellent sunny and warm weather all weekend long in Huntsville . There were 22 teams this year , two less than in 2009 . Some 33 first round games were played on both Friday evening and all day Saturday before the 16 playoff spots were determined for the Sunday playoffs. Here are the results of those first 33 game :

                                                                      Before I get to the playoff picture , its important to mention and congratulate the convenor Stan  Rimmington and his fine crew for putting on this excellent tournament . Also it was a treat  to have the Legend and hall of famer from Garden River  Darren Zack  pitch all weekend with the River  Dawgs .
 
                                                                       On with the championship playoff Sunday . The top 16 teams who place well out of the original 22 face eaxch other onm Sunday in four flights . Teams seeded 1 to 4 were in the "A" tournament championship  division followed by teams 5 to 8 in the "B" flight and so on 
 
Results of semi finals and divisional championship games 
 
"D" Division  (teams seeded 13 to 16 )  semi 1 Lake Simcoe Old Boys 3 Brechan 2   semi 2   Waterdown Targets 7 Carlson 6
                                                                    In the final  Waterdown Targets blank the Old Boys   6-0
 
"C" Division  (teams seeded  9 to 12)    semi 1 Stouville Mennos 12 Vdney 2  semi 2  Uthoff 6 Lindsay 2
                                                                     In the final a triller that lasted 2 extra innings after being tied 2-2 , the Stouville Mennos prevail 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th 
 
"B" Division (teams seeded  5 to 8 )      semi 1 Perkins Field Bentus 10  Rama Reds 1  semi 2 River Dawgs 8  Moose Delaney 2
                                                                      In the final the River Dawgs take an early 5-0 lead and hold on for a 8-4 victory behind winning pitcher Darren Zack
 
"A" Division (teams seeded 1 to 4 )        semi 1   Tazco 4  North Stars 2  semi 2  Lake Simcoe Lightning 3 Royals 2
                                                                        In the championship final the Lightning take a 5-1 lead by the middl;e innings and hold on after a three run shot from  Tazco in the 5th for a 5-4 exciting tournament championship victory
