Everyone...
Â
The schedule for Erie will be completed TODAY/TONIGHT. Â There was the last minute subtraction of 1 more team leaving the tournament with 8 teams, Â 8 of the finest teams in North America: Â Toronto Gators, NY Gremlins, Â Circle Tap, Â Bloomington Stix, Â Scarb. Force, Â Peligro Gremlins, Hallman Twins and 2015 ASA National Champions Hill United.Â
Â
The delay in the schedule is because of 2 things, Â the ongoing trouble with keeping the field of teams set and wanting to be creative with the schedule to play 2 games at the 3rd field (less than 1/4 miles away) in an attempt to allow all the teams to be at the main field for the prime time games Saturday night: Â 6pm game will be Toronto Gators vs NY Gremlins and 8pm will be 2014 ISC Finals rematch Hill United vs. Hallman Twins.Â
Â
The top 6 teams will advance to Sunday's elimination playoff. Â #1 from each pool will get bye, Â 2 vs 3 will cross over. Â The Sunday games will start at 8:30am, 10am semi final and planning on noon final.Â
Â
Players that are flying into Erie are welcome to stop by Casa de Hillhouse for shower before your flights. Â My house is (literally) 2 minutes from Erie airport. Â If my pool is operational (currently has a part broken and it's outta commission) Â teams and individuals can dive off the board for a quick swim instead of or in addition to taking your flight. Â Those interested can find me during the weekend for my address and details. Â This will certainly save on the airport baths that many balllplayers are used to... using airport bathroom sinks to "clean" themselves before flights.Â
Â
Those needing GPS address for the fields, please use: Â 1137 E. 11th St. Â Erie PA. Â
Â
There are NO open container laws in Erie so, you can sit on the back of your pick up, Â sit in the stands, etc. with coolers of beer. Â Â The bar across the street from the field which was famous for wings has been closed for 2 years now. Â There is another bar on the other side of the park, although I would stress caution if you go in to get 12 packs to go at night. Â As most of you know, the fields are not in the best part of town and that bar has seen it's share of trouble!!! Â In other words, Â get your beer on ice before coming to the ballpark... please keep in mind beer CANNOT be purchased at gas stations and stores here in Pennsylvania. Â Â When buying beer, Â please keep in mind the tournament is sponsored by Budweiser and Bud Light. Â The Bud distributor also sells Labatt. Â It helps the tournament, the sponsor, and the game to patron the sponsor of the tournament by drinking his company beer. Â I know Coors Light is popular with many Canadians but, I hope you will all bite the bullet for this weekend and drink Bud Light for sake of our sponsor.Â
Â
Games will start Saturday at 9am. Â My aunt and family will again be operating the concession stand.. Â Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, sausage/peppers, along with an aray of cold drinks. Â I hope everyone, players and fans will support the concession stand. Â We will have 50-50's going too. Â
