The 2015 WBSC Men’s World Softball Championship this summer in Saskatoon.
Organizers couldn’t have dreamt of a better final between defending champion New Zealand and Canada.
Saskatoon pitcher Devon McCullough came on in relief as Canada rallied from a 5-0 deficit to win the world title 10-5.

It’s really the game of the year. In the above softball final Canada’s Steve Mullaley, playing in his final world championship, had the game of his life.
Mullaley, from Freshwater, Nfld., was a one-man wrecking crew in banging out three home runs (including a grand slam) and seven RBIs to help lead his team to the world title.

Lisa Down seems to do more in one year for her sport of softball than most people can accomplish in a lifetime. Down, now a director with Softball Canada, has been active in softball all her life and a fixture at national events since 1994. Down has been a team leader at many international events, including world junior championships in South Africa and the senior championships in the Netherlands. At the Senior Men’s World Softball Championships in Saskatoon this past summer Down was in charge of organizing the 350-plus volunteers. She was recognized for her efforts by being inducted into the 2015 Saskatoon Hall of Fame.
