St. John's, NL - Hill United Rock Invitational a Resounding Success
On behalf of the Hill United Chiefs, our sponsorship group and the Hill Family of Six Nations, Ontario, we would like to extend our sincere thank you to the people of Newfoundland for making the first ever ISC qualifying tournament on the Rock an unqualified success.
Â
Tournament directors John Hill and Junior Bruce, your outstanding volunteer team worked tirelessly for months on the buildup and practically 24 hours a day for the full 3 day event. Your leadership and commitment to this event was truly a labour of love, and the dedication and devotion of your  ‎volunteers showed what teamwork is all about.Â
Â
Special thanks goes out to the Toronto Gators who made the trip east to participate. The Bigs, the Hitmen and Kelly's Pub from St.John's men's fastball league you all played like champions , and you gave the hundreds of fans in attendance a glimpse of the fastball talent they have all been missing.
Â
Special thanks to the umpiring crew headed up by Lou Davis, and certainly the crew in the booth doing announcing, streaming and statistical work for Gary Baughman and Al Doran who put it out to the world.Â
Â
The Rock Invitational would not have been possible without its many sponsors and in particular the Hill family and it's sponsorship group. Special thanks to Dean and Ginger Smith, and girls, who worked tirelessly to sell the many souvenier t-shirts, hats and jackets all day, every day. Â
Â
For the first time in 23 years a Newfoundland based team will be offered a spot in the 2017 ISC World Tournament. The sun shone on St.John's on Canada Day weekend, and fastball shone in Lions Park‎.
