OKLAHOMA CITY - The Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball will welcome participants, coaches and fans to the 2016 USA Softball Junior Olympic (JO) Cup in Powder Springs, Ga. slated to begin July 25 and run through July 29. The USA Softball JO Cup serves as a National Team identification opportunity for athletes wishing to compete in front of members of the Women's National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC).  With the possibility of softball and baseball returning to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, this tournament will further serve as an identification tournament for the USA Softball National Team Program. The 32 teams from each division of play will also be competing for a prize pool with the top finishers receiving a cash donation award back to their participating 501c3 program.

A total of 64 teams will be competing in the annual invitational tournament that will take place at Lost Mountain Park in Powder Springs, Ga. For the second year in a row, 32 of the nation’s top teams in the 18-Under division return to battle for the JO Cup champion crown, while new to the USA Softball JO Cup this year will be the addition of a 16-Under division featuring 32 of the nation’s top 16-Under teams. Teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket format in their respective divisions leading up to the championship games which will be played on Saturday July 30 at Bailey Park on the campus of Kennesaw State University.

 

A special feature during the weeklong event will come on Tuesday, July 26 as the USA Softball Women’s Elite Team will square off against the USA Softball JO Cup All-Star squad. The 12-inning matchup will take place on Field 2 inside Lost Mountain Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. A complete list of the JO Cup team roster can be found here.
